What "Small Group" Actually Means Here
At Beegan K9, a playgroup is 2 to 3 dogs, matched by temperament, energy, and play style. Most daycares that advertise "small groups" run 10 to 15 dogs in one of those groups.
Here is how the day works:
A small group of 2 to 3 dogs gets dedicated play time while the rest of the dogs rest. With no interruptions, the play itself is better. Every dog gets a turn with the space and the handler to itself, then rests while another dog gets theirs.
That rhythm does more than tire a dog out. Dogs settle between turns because the pattern is predictable and another turn is coming, so the calm half of the day is not something we impose on them. Better behavior is the natural byproduct of a structured, trainer-run day, not a training class added on top of daycare.
A hard cap of 12 dogs a day across 4,000+ square feet of indoor and outdoor space makes all of it possible. An Expert Handler forms and watches every group.
When I first took guardianship of Cass, he was very under-socialized. He struggles with separation anxiety and often isn't sure how to handle interactions with other dogs, so I was genuinely nervous about leaving him … Cass came back more confident and settled than when he left, which says everything.
